SHILLONG, Feb 19: After pitching for an inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of COVID funds, BJP spokesperson and party candidate from North Shillong, Mariahom Kharkrang has now demanded an inquiry into the collapse of the dome of the under-construction Assembly building at New Shillong Township last year.
Kharkrang is going up against former PWD engineer and NPP candidate Ransom Sutnga, who was overseeing the construction of the new Assembly building when the dome collapsed.
Speaking to media persons here, Kharkrang said the dome collapse incident should be thoroughly investigated since it is being constructed with public money and the government cannot take citizens for a ride.
Stating that people of the state had waited for over 20 years for the new Assembly building, the BJP candidate lamented that people’s dreams have been cut short after the dome collapsed.
Kharkrang had, earlier, demanded an investigation into the exorbitant expenditure of Rs 816 crore for COVID management in the state.
