Temporary traffic arrangement for PM Modi’s visit

SHILLONG, Feb 22: In a bid to ensure that the travel of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is arriving in the state on Friday, is safe and smooth, the police have advised people “to avoid journey in and around Shillong city unless required or on emergency purposes”.
The Prime Minister is yet another star campaigner of the State BJP and will arrive in the state to boost the party’s election campaign.
Moreover, the police have declared multiple areas as no entry zones in view of the PM’s visit between 12 pm to 2.30 pm on Friday.
No entry at Raj Bhawan Point for vehicles coming from Pinewood junction and wanting to proceed towards IGP Point. These vehicles will instead be diverted at Raj Bhawan towards AIR junction, Lachumiere. Whereas, at AIR junction, vehicles coming from Gurudwara junction, Lachumiere, and wanting to proceed towards IGP Point will not be allowed entry and will be diverted at AIR junction towards Lachumiere.
The police have also declared no entry at Centenary junction for vehicles coming from Civil Hospital point and proceeding towards IGP Point.
These vehicles will be diverted at Centenary junction towards Barik Point, while those that would want to proceed towards Police Bazar will have to take the route from Kiang Nangbah junction towards Keating Road and proceed towards Police Bazaar.
At Umsohsun junction, vehicles coming from Motphran and Umsohsun and heading towards Police Bazaar will have to take the diversion towards Boucher Road and beyond at Umsohsun junction.
At the Vishal Mart junction, vehicles proceeding towards Police Bazar from Jail Road will be diverted towards Café Coffee Day junction- City Hut Dhaba.
At Kachari Point, vehicles going to Police Bazar from IGP point will be diverted towards Raj Bhawan point.
