Polling officials injured in a road mishap

Shillong, Feb 26: The team of polling officials bound for 44/8 Jangrapara LP School of 44- Raksamgre Assembly Constituency in Garo hills area of the state met with an accident on the way at Photamati according to information received late last night here.

An official source informed it appears that the vehicle of the polling party overturned on the road. It is reported that there is serious facial and head injury to one polling official. Minor injuries have been reported for other polling officials and security personnel.

Injured were immediately shifted to nearest hospital Tikrikilla CHC from where 02 polling officers are being referred to a higher medical facility in Goalpara. All others were given the first aid treatment. All needed medical assistance is bring provided to all the injured persons.

Polling materials and EVM/VVPAT was secured by the concerned Sector Magistrate accompanied by the concerned Sector Police Officer in the presence of CAPF and was taken to the concerned Polling Station which is being guarded by CAPF so that transparency of the whole electoral process is ensured.
