TURA, Feb 26: In order to ensure the safety of all polling and security personnel returning to the receiving centre after the completion of Assembly elections, the Sector Magistrate, Sector Police Officer and CAPF vehicles (if available) have been directed to escort all vehicles of polling personnel.
An order issued in this regard by the West Garo Hills District Election Officer, while banning the use of alcohol and any other intoxicating substance during polling duty and in the premises of the polling station, made it mandatory for the Presiding Officer to ensure that the driver is not under the influence of alcohol and has had enough sleep before the movement.
