SHILLONG, March 9: UDP president and former Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh is all set to become the Chairman of the Meghalaya State Planning Board (MSPB).
Confirming this on Thursday, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said the notification on Lyngdoh’s appointment as Chairman of MSPB will be out shortly.
When contacted, Lyngdoh said he was happy with the assignment given to him.
“I will immediately be convening a meeting of the board in a day or two. I want to first have a better understanding of the overall functioning and role of the Planning Board before making an attempt to revamp it,” the former Speaker said.
Lyngdoh said he will review the implementation of the important projects in the state along with other board members.
“We will also try to come up with suggestions for the government on the steps which are needed to be taken for overall development of the state,” he said.
It may be recalled that Lyngdoh had recently stated that he would be comfortable in taking up any responsibility in the NPP-led MDA 2.0 Government.
“I am comfortable anywhere. Wherever I am, I will work for the people,” Lyngdoh had replied to a query on whether he was offered the post of Chairman of the Meghalaya State Planning Board.
“We will need to sit with the chief minister to figure out what the focus areas are for the new government. We will also discuss how to move forward with the Common Minimum Programme,” he had stated.
