SHILLONG, March 16: Power Minister AT Mondal said on Thursday that he has directed the MeECL to show consideration towards the student community and not impose power cuts during the ongoing examination.
According to him, the MeECL had to resort to power cuts in view of the gap between demand and supply.
Mondal said once the gap is reduced, the power cuts will be withdrawn.
Asked to explain the reason behind the power cuts, the minister attributed it to non-payment of outstanding dues to the power generation companies and shortage of power in the grid.
