After 70 years, Cheetah seen in wild at Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park

Shillong, March 21: After 70 years when they went extinct in India, a Cheetah was seen in the wild at Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park.

A total of 20 Cheetahs were brought to India from Namibia in September last year and some of them were released in the wild. A forest official clicked the photo of Oban, a male cheetah who was released in the forest along with Asha, his female partner. They were released in a forest area on March 11.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Kuno National Park, Prakash Kumar Verma said that the team of forest officials is monitoring the Cheetahs. He informed that both Oban and Asha freely move in the forest area.

Forest officials are also preparing to release six other Namibian cheetahs in the open forest.
