City college prog on disaster management

SHILLONG, March 26: The Disaster Management Committee and Economics Department in collaboration with the NSS and NCC Units of Sankardev College, Shillong, organised an awareness programme on Disaster Management at the college auditorium recently.
Molvareen Langstieh, Assistant Director, OM Cell, MATI, Shillong, Silma Suting, Counselor, District Child Protection Officer, Shillong, Evankor K Ryndem, Jr. Cooperative Officer, and P Deb, Organiser, Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya, Shillong, jointly delivered lectures and presentations on coping mechanisms as well as techniques to strengthen the body and mind of the youth in calamities. They also demonstrated basic techniques on Psycho-Social Care where the students were sensitised on attributes of Compassion, active listening and sharing.
Dr. EFP Lyngdoh, the Principal of the college, while thanking and appreciating the contribution of the resource persons for the programme, also urged upon the students to take note of all the techniques taught and to apply them accordingly. She congratulated all the participants for the meaningful programme.
