Shillong, March 29: The Election Commission of India is set to make announcement for schedule of the Karnataka Assembly elections today.
The announcement will be made at 11.30 am in Vigyan Bhavan’s plenary hall in New Delhi.
On March 25, Congress released the names of 124 candidates for the assembly elections. Siddaramaiah, the former chief minister of Karnataka, will contest from the Varuna, and DK Shivakumar, the president of the Karnataka Congress, will contest from the Kanakapura.
On March 20, the Aam Aadmi Party announced its initial list of 80 candidates who will contest in the forthcoming Karnataka Assembly elections. The party has declared that it will run candidates in each of the 224 Assembly constituencies in the state, where elections for the Assembly are scheduled for May.
In the six regions of Bengaluru, Central, Coastal, Hyderabad-Karnataka, Mumbai-Karnataka, and Southern Karnataka, there are 224 Assembly constituencies. The main regions of the state are Mumbai-Karnataka and Southern Karnataka, which have 50 and 51 Assembly seats, respectively.
