Condemnation
The Seng Samla along with the Dorbar Shnong and Seng Longkmie of Lower Lumparing is deeply saddened and disturbed to learn about the horrific incident that took place on the night of March 25, wherein one Akash Lyngdoh (35), a member of Seng Samla Lower-Lumparing and a resident of Dong Ranab, Lower-Lumparing, was mercilessly beaten up at Red Cross area, Laban. He sustained significant injuries, including severe damage to one of his eyes, which is deeply distressing and alarming, a statement issued here said. The Seng Samla, Dorbar Shnong and Seng Longkmie of Lower-Lumparing has strongly condemned the inhumane act, while calling upon the concerned authorities to intervene in the matter and apprehend the assailants.

Exhibition
The Students of the department of Botany, Saint Mary’s College, Shillong, won third prize for the Model Exhibition organised by the PHE department recently to commemorate World Water Day on the theme ‘Accelerating Change: Be the change you want to see in the world’, which was participated by Janwe Marak, Anisha Majhong, Ibansara Wansai and Wansuklin Wartde all 6th Semester Botany students on the topic ‘Eco-friendly Domestic Waste Water Treatment System’.

Seminar
The department of Botany, St Mary’s College, Shillong, organised a two-day Inter Departmental Seminar to commemorate World Forestry Day, which is observed on March 21, on the theme ‘Forest and Future’. It also organised Oral Poster Presentation to celebrate World Water Day (March 22) on the theme ‘Water conservation for a better future’.

Nomination

Election
The triennial election of East Khasi Hills District Unit of YHAI Meghalaya State Branch will be held on May 27. Nomination papers for the post of a Unit president, two Unit vice presidents, a Unit chairman and Unit treasurer from YHAI members should reach the convenor, AM Shadap (7005597168), on or before April 27. Nomination papers can be collected from the convenor or from the Government Youth Hostel Shillong.
