SHILLONG, March 29: The Congress on Wednesday claimed Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is pro-BJP.
The Congress drew this inference from the CM’s statement. He had termed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s action of challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi on industrialist Gautam Adani issue as “unfortunate” and asked the Congress leader to apologise. The AICC said the CM’s statement is a clear indication that he is with the BJP.
Addressing a press conference in Shillong, AICC media coordinator Bobbeeta Sharma alleged Sangma, who is the NPP national president, is hand in glove with the BJP. She said the blame-game between NPP and BJP during the Assembly elections was a drama.
Referring to the attacks during poll campaign on MDA 1.0 by Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who claimed it was the most corrupt government in the country, Sharma said they have fallen in the trap they set. She asked the BJP to act by initiating a CBI or ED inquiry against the MDA 1.0 government.
Sharma also said that Rajya Sabha member Jairam Ramesh has already written to the CBI Director seeking an investigation into the charges of corruption levelled by Shah.
The Congress leader accused Modi of attempting to destroy democracy in order to save his “Param Mitra” Adani. Sharma said Rahul has been targeted for asking Modi about Adani.
She said the defamation suit against Rahul was revived just nine days after his speech in Parliament on the Adani “scam”. She said in their speeches, Rahul and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had made specific references to the scam but the same was expunged from Parliament’s records.
The AICC leader said Rahul was denied an opportunity to speak in Parliament despite three requests, including two written requests, to Speaker Om Birla. The third was when he met the Speaker.
“This clearly shows that PM Modi does not want his relationship with Adani to be exposed,” Sharma said.
