SHILLONG, March 29: Preparations have gotten under way in the state capital as the meeting of G20 nations on the topic of the Space-20 programme is less than a month away.
Shillong, just like other cities and towns in India, is getting ready to host the G20 meeting, which is scheduled for April 17 and 18.
The two-day meeting would discuss how space partnerships can contribute to the economy of India. It is also learnt that top scientists from across the world would visit Shillong for the meeting.
The programme here is in continuation of the Space Economy Leaders’ Meeting, held by the National Space Agencies of the G20 countries.
As part of the preparations, many parts in the state capital are also getting a facelift, with roads being blacktopped and walls being painted to name a few.
It may be mentioned that for India, the G20 Presidency marks the beginning of ‘Amritkaal’, the 25-year period beginning from the 75th anniversary of its independence on 15 August 2022, leading up to the centenary of its Independence, towards a futuristic, prosperous, inclusive and developed society, distinguished by a human-centric approach at its core.
