SHILLONG, April 6: The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly (KJPA) on Wednesday expressed “shock and concern” to learn that one of the private universities in Meghalaya is slated to hold some programme from April 7 to 9, which falls under the Holy Week of the Christian community — Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
The KJPA’s remarks came after its Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday.
“Since the University falls under the State of Meghalaya, it is surprising that the institution does not even respect and honour the state holiday as mentioned in the state calendar. Therefore, the KJPA strongly condemns such programmes and advises the University concerned to postpone the same and shift it to another date,” it said in a statement.
