Woman objects to loud music in Delhi, shot dead by neighbour

Shillong, April 10: The 30-year-old Delhi woman who suffered a miscarriage after being shot by her neighbour in Siraspur, northwest Delhi last week passed away, police has informed,

The woman was shot for objecting to the loud music a DJ was playing during a party at the neighbor’s house. On April 3, the victim, named Ranju, was shot by her next-door neighbour Harish.

A senior police official claimed that the woman’s condition was critical. She was receiving medical care in a city hospital. “On Saturday, the hospital informed us that she had passed away as a result of her wounds” police said.

The police official stated that when she passed away, Section 302 (murder) was added to the FIR.

On April 3, at about 12:15 am, a PCR call regarding a shooting incident in Siraspur was received. When the police reached the spot, they found that Ranju, a local of Siraspur, had been admitted into Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh.

She received a gunshot wound to the neck, according to hospital staff, and was not in a position to provide a statement, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Outer North Ravi Kumar Singh.

Afterwards, the victim’s sister-in-law who was an eye-witness gave the description of the incident. She stated that music was being played during a DJ at Harish’s son’s ‘kuan pujan’ ceremony on Sunday. On her balcony, Ranju requested Harish, who lived across the street, to turn down the music. Afterwards, according to the eyewitness, Harish went to his friend Amit for a gun and shot Ranju.

Following their arrest, Harish and Amit were charged with sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) as well as section 27 of the Weapons Act. Amit works in a mobile repair shop, whereas Harish is a delivery boy.
