SHILLONG, April 13: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has announced a series of public rallies to provide proper and correct perspective to the public on the unjust implementation of the roster system based on the unfair premise of the existing state job reservation policy.
VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh on Thursday said that the party will be holding three public meetings in the first phase beginning at Madan Heh, Mawlai, at 2 pm on April 17 followed by a meeting at Iawmusiang, Jowai, at 12 noon on April 19 and another one at Jaiaw at 2 pm on April 20.
The VPP spokesperson said that the party has been forced to take the route of organising public rallies in view of the apathetic attitude of the MDA 2.0 Government to the request of the party for convening a special session of the Assembly to discuss the burning issue.
“The attitude of the government is a blatant disregard to the bleak future faced by the youth belonging to the Khasi-Jaintia community and those belonging to the differently-abled category while it disproportionately advances the interest of the youth from others,” Myrboh said.
He further observed that the adamant position taken by the government shows its disrespect to the constitutionally and democratically constituted Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
The VPP spokesperson also stated that the Assembly is supposed to be an institution where public issues are discussed by the representatives duly elected by the people.
“Each day of delay in the just and fair implementation of the roster system and revision of the job reservation policy leads to further mounting of injustice in the state. We appeal to the public to attend the meetings organised by the party,” Myrboh added.
