Former Sohiong legislator no more

SHILLONG, Apr 14: Former Sohiong MLA Nit Shabong passed away on Friday at his residence in Kynsew village, East Khasi Hills. He was 84.
Shabong, who represented Sohiong constituency between 1983 and 1988, is survived by his wife and ten children.
After leaving the Congress, the former Sohiong MLA was associated with many political parties, including the HSPDP and BJP.
When contacted, Shabong’s son, Osborne Kharjana, informed that his father had passed away around 5 am on Friday. He informed that Shabong’s funeral will be held at Presbyterian Church cemetery at Kynsew village on Sunday.
It may be mentioned that Kharjana is contesting the by-elections to Sohiong constituency on a Congress ticket.
