JOWAI, April 13: The Seinraij Jowai along with the Dorbar Niam of Raij Jowai on Friday organised a special gathering to formally receive a monolith, which was brought from Raij Narwan, East Jaintia Hills, Elaka Shangpung.
The monolith will be a memorial stone of the 33rd gathering of the Sengkhihlang at Tyrsad, East Khasi Hills, and will be installed at Tyrsad on Saturday as part of the gathering of the Sengkhihlang.
The reception on Friday was held at Myntdu, Pynthornein, in the presence of Dolloi Elaka Jowai, Puramon Kynjing, leaders of Seinraij and Niamtre from different Raij and villages.
General Secretary of Seinraij, Arwotki Sumer, delivered his special address, while Raymond Nartiang, Pator Raij Jowai carried the traditional religious practices according to the belief of Niamtre.
