CM reveals collaboration for solar electrification

SHILLONG, April 18: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday revealed that a local team of Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE), an entity working to empower the remotest communities on the planet by leveraging adventure tourism as a driving force for development, has completed solar electrification of 400 households in rural Meghalaya.
In a photo posted on Twitter, the chief minister can be seen holding discussions virtually with GHE on plans to continue the “collaboration for solar electrification of villages and health centres, clean cooking stoves, digital learning for our children in rural areas and proposals to set up LED assembly lines for local solar products.”
In the post, the CM commented, “The local team of @GHE_Connect has completed solar electrification of 400 households, provided 5000 clean cookstoves & continue to handhold communities to their empowerment (sic).”
The CM also held a meeting with officials of Power department to discuss proposed interventions to set up plants for renewable energy or solar parks and waste processing plants in the state.
