Man gets life for minor girl’s murder

NONGSTOIN, April 20: The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO), Nongstoin, has convicted Blansius Nongsiej in a case related to the murder of a minor girl in 2019 and sentenced him to concurrent jail terms for life and for 30 years. The convict was also fined Rs 50,000 under Section 302 IPC and Rs 20,000 under Section 6 of POCSO Act and in default he will undergo six months of simple imprisonment.
The murder had taken place at Umwar Umyiap village in West Khasi Hills following which Nongstoin Police had registered a case and arrested the accused.
