GH group wants implementation of Job Reservation Policy sans changes
TURA, Apr 21: Extending its support to groups from Garo Hills, who are against the review of the Job Reservation Policy and the Roster System, the All Garo Hills Trained Electricians’ Association on Friday urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to implement the JRP without making any changes. The association expressed its support to the groups in an appeal addressed to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. “We condemn the ongoing protest demanding its review by groups and political parties in Khasi Hills. Demand for removal of entry gate at Khanduli village
JOWAI, April 21: The Joint Action Committee Nartiang Khanduli (JACNK) on Friday demanded of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) to remove the entry gate, which was set up at Khanduli a few days ago. The demand was made after the JACNK, led by Waheh Shnong of Moodop-Nartiang, Damonmi Dkhar, had gone to inspect Khanduli village. Dkhar said the KAAC had erected the entry gate to illegally collect taxes since Khanduli is a part of Meghalaya. According to him, this has not only led to the harassment of the locals but has also affected their livelihood. Alleging that the KAAC has started to collect taxes from the commercial vehicles and tourist taxis, Dkhar questioned the claim of the Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong that Khanduli falls under Assam.
