TURA, April 27: As the ongoing load-shedding in Meghalaya continues to draw flak, BJP MDC from Tura, Bernard Marak, has now written to WGH Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Chelani, seeking immediate withdrawal of the load-shedding in the Garo Hills, while terming the same as illegal.
In a letter to the DC, Marak said there was no legal notification from the state government over the ongoing 10-hour shutdown in the district, which would mean that the shutdown was illegal in nature. “The load-shedding imposed on the common man without any legal notification or order amounts to depriving the public of their basic needs. This cannot be ignored as everyone depends on electricity these days and the lack of it is causing severe hardships,” he argued, requesting that the power cuts be stopped immediately if there is no official order.
Further, Marak said if there was an order, a copy of the same be provided to him so that they can challenge the load-shedding in the Consumer Court.
