SHILLONG, April 27: The High Court of Meghalaya has directed the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) to act in conjunction with the Municipality and ease the ordeals of the residents of Jowai brought about by improper garbage management.
During the hearing of the PIL on Thursday, an affidavit was filed by the Jowai Municipality pursuant to the order dated April 17, 2023.
The petitioner flagged several issues and said that all is not well in the matter of collection of garbage in the town of Jowai.
The petitioner was asked to file an affidavit in this regard within a week. “In the meantime, the Jaintia District Council should act in conjunction with the Municipality to ease the citizens’ woes,” the Court said.
