Timber-laden vehicle meets with accident; one killed

AMPATI, April 29: One person was killed and another two were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident early Saturday morning in South West Garo Hills district.
Interestingly, the vehicle, which met with the accident, was carrying an illegal load of timber.
As per reports, the incident took place near Jelbongpara Salbari under Ampati Police Station limits.
While the reason for the accident is yet to be ascertained, the driver, identified as one Gulzar Hussain, from the Mankachar area under South Salmara district in Assam, was killed during the mishap.
The other two occupants, viz. Sahinur Islam and Omar Faruq sustained injuries and were rushed to Ampati CH and Tura CH respectively. The condition of the latter is said to be critical.
While the police could not confirm the reason of the incident, they believe the vehicle was over-speeding, which may have led to the same losing control and toppling over.
