Man convicted for raping minor in WKH village

NONGSTOIN, May 1: The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO), West Khasi Hills, convicted one Babul Basil Ali and sentenced him to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 50,000 under section 6 POCSO Act and in default of payment of fine shall further undergo 6 (Six months simple imprisonment.
The court issued an order in this regard on April 28.
The accused was convicted for raping a minor girl on July 30, 2021, at Pyndengrei Mawkhmahwir village, West Khasi Hills. The matter was reported to Nongstoin Police Station.
