SHILLONG, May 4: The state government has urged the High Court of Meghalaya to dispose of a petition, filed in public interest, by former diplomat RV Warjri and another citizen against suspended police officer GK Iangrai for allegedly misusing public funds while purchasing vehicles for the Police Department.
During the hearing on Thursday, the state reported that the person concerned has been granted bail and the disciplinary proceedings can commence immediately.
The state submitted the case diary to the court but the court declined to look into the same. According to the case diary, the investigation is proceeding in the usual course and without any impediment.
The court hoped that the investigation is concluded as expeditiously as possible and steps taken in accordance with law thereupon and since the charges in the disciplinary proceedings have been served on the concerned person, such proceedings should be pursued without any further delay.
“The petitioners will immediately serve copies of all the papers pertaining to present proceedings, including the order made therein on the respondent,” the court said.
