One killed after truck falls into gorge

NONGPOH, May 6: One person was killed while another was critically injured after a truck (WB23E5691) carrying silicon rocks fell into a gorge near Umling on Friday night.
The accident took place on National Highway-6 in Ri-Bhoi, following which the driver, Tapash Roy, and occupant, Sonatan Kormokai, — both residents of West Bengal — were rushed to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for treatment.
However, Kormokai was declared brought dead by the attending medical health officer.
