Campaigning ends for Sohiong poll

Shillong, May 8: The campaign for the deferred election to the Sohiong Assembly constituency ended on Monday.
On the last day of campaign, huge rallies were organised for UDP candidate Synshar Lyngdoh Thabah and NPP candidate Samlin Malngiang.
As the venues of the rallies were close by – on the two sides of a road at Sohiong – people could easily hear the speeches of the leaders of UDP and NPP.
The NPP leaders who attended the programme included Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar and Sohra MLA Gavin Mylliem.
The UDP leaders were party president Metbah Lyngdoh, Ministers Paul Lyngdoh and Kyrmen Shylla, MLAs Lahkmen Rymbui and Renikton Lyngdoh besides KHADC Chief Executive Member Titosstarwell Chyne.
S Osborne Kharjana of Congress, Sandondor Ryntathiang of HSPDP, Seraph Eric Kharbuki of BJP and Stodingstar Thabah of TMC are also contesting.
According to a social media video, no TMC leaders attended the last meeting of the party candidate.
