SHILLONG, May 8: A five-day sponsored residential Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on General Management and Research Methodology organised by the APJ Abdul Kalam Centre of IIM Shillong got under way here on Monday.
The programme is meant for the faculty members of higher education institutions in the Northeastern region and aims to “train the trainers” and equip them with the necessary skills to teach and disseminate knowledge effectively.
During the inaugural session, Director of IIM Shillong, Prof DP Goyal, stressed that in order to be a good teacher one must create an environment that will cater to the learning needs of all students irrespective of their capability, which according to him will help create a fair and transparent evaluation process for students.
Goyal also urged all faculty members to take full advantage of the session and learn how to design a curriculum, make a pedagogy of teaching, and have an enlightening experience.
The FDP witnessed enrolment by 30 faculties as participants from various institutions namely IIMC, Aizawl, Tripura Institute of Paramedical Science, Manipur University of Culture, Cotton University, Guwahati, Centre for Community Medicine, AIIMS Delhi, NEHU, Assam University, et al.
