Shillong, May 9: In wake of a controversy after the release of movie The Kerala Story, director of the movie Sudipto Sen has claimed that one of the cast members has received threat from an unidentified person.
Sudipto Sen, who provided information to the police, claimed that the crew member had been asked not to leave the house alone through the message.
“The team did not do a good thing by telling the story”, the message continued.
The team member has been given security in the interim by the police. However, no FIR was filed in this case because the police station never received a written complaint.
The plight of three women who are sold to ISIS camps after marrying radicals is described in ‘The Kerala Story’.
The movie, directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, sparked a fiery debate and was denounced as “RSS propaganda” by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani play the key characters in The Kerala Story.
The movie’s trailer, which implied that 32,000 women from Kerala had vanished and joined ISIS, ignited a huge uproar surrounding it.
The controversial teaser from the trailer was later taken down in response to complaints.
Later, it was described in the trailer as the tale of three women from Kerala.
In the BJP-run state of Madhya Pradesh, the film has been made tax-free.
West Bengal has become the first state to ban the movie, citing the need for “maintenance of peace” and to prevent “hatred and violence” incidents.
The film’s producer, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, responded to the ban by saying they will seek legal recourse against the ruling.
