SHILLONG, May 14: The Meghalaya BJP committee on roster system is close to finalising its suggestions to be presented to the state government during the proposed meeting of the MDA to be convened shortly.
State BJP president Ernest Mawrie on Sunday said the committee has met twice and will sit once again before the meeting.
The BJP committee, which was constituted to examine the roster and the job reservation issue, consists of former MLA HM Shangpliang as the convener; Cabinet minister AL Hek, South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai, party president Ernest Mawrie and party spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang as members; two representatives from Garo Hills including Edmund K. Sangma and Ferlin CA Sangma and two legal advisers — VGK Kynta and SP Mahanta.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma is expected to convene a meeting of the MDA shortly to discuss the contentious roster system and other issues.  Earlier, the state BJP had requested the NPP-led MDA 2.0 Government to set a cut-off date for the implementation of the roster reservation system since the High Court of Meghalaya ruling does not indicate any date or year for the same.
Hek said the BJP will push for the cut-off date during the MDA meeting.
