Decomposed body recovered from RB forest

NONGPOH, May 14: An unidentified decomposed body was recovered from a forest area in 19th Mile, Ri-Bhoi, on Friday. The incident came to light around 11:30 am, when the Headman of 20th Mile Pahammawlein, Kyrngun Sylliang, informed the Ri-Bhoi Police.
After being informed, officers and staff of Byrnihat Police Outpost were immediately dispatched to the location. During inquiry, the police were unable to identify the deceased due to the highly decomposed state of the body. Even the headman and the some of the locals were unable to identify the deceased.
The police, nonetheless, found no injury marks on the body.
The Executive Magistrate directed the body to be sent for post-mortem at Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
Besides the identity, the cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
