Guv inspects projects in SWKH

MAWKYRWAT, May 22: Governor Phagu Chauhan on Monday inspected the Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital, Maharam Government Higher Secondary School, Mawkyrwat, and the construction works under MGNREGA at Mawpon, during his two-day visit to South West Khasi Hills.
Chauhan was accompanied by Commissioner & Secretary to the Governor of Meghalaya BDR Tiwari and was received by South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner T Lyngwa during a ceremony, which was held on Sunday at the Circuit House, Mawkyrwat.
During the meeting at Maharam Government Higher Secondary School, the Governor encouraged the students to work hard towards their goals.
He also handed over gifts to the school principal and to the Medical Superintendent of Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital.
A meeting was also held at the Conference Hall of the Circuit House, which was attended by the district, state and central government officials and traditional heads from Mawkyrwat area.
During the meeting, the Governor dwelt at length on the implementation of schemes, projects and programmes of the central government for the benefit and welfare of the people of this area.
With regard to the problems faced by the people in the rural areas in terms of road connectivity, electricity, border fencing, et al, the Governor suggested ideas on how to tackle and resolve the same.
During the meeting, Syiem of Hima Maharam Syiemship, N. Syiemiong; Syiem of Langrin Syiemship, Nangtei Syiem and Syiem of Mawiang Noverstar Syiem, aired the difficulties faced by the district and sought Governor’s intervention.
