Transformer vandalised in city, items stolen

SHILLONG, May 23: A 500KV transformer near the Laban Bengalee Boys Higher Secondary School was vandalised on the wee hours of Tuesday.
The transformer caters to 478 households in the area, stretching from Mahalakshmi General Store to Streamlet Road.
It is reported that miscreants vandalised the transformer and stole copper wires, copper plates and fuses, all critical for smooth distribution of power.
According to a senior MeECL official, items worth over Rs 7,000 were stolen.
It was also informed that an FIR has been registered Laban police station in this regard.
