KHLIEHRIAT, May 24: East Jaintia Hills police have arrested three persons, viz. Pasar Uddin, Maya Gwala and Emersoan Ghat in connection with peddling of drugs.
Acting on a tip-off that contraband items were being smuggled from Silchar to Shillong by Uddin and Ghat at the behest of Gwala, a team of police on Tuesday intercepted a tourist bus (AS01-FC-8199) at Umtyra village in East Jaintia Hills.
A search of the vehicle was subsequently conducted following which nine soap boxes with yellowish powder were found.
The powder, weighing 100.56 grams, was then tested positive for heroin.
While the duo was immediately apprehended, a team of police was sent to Shillong to nab Gwala.
She was then apprehended from her residence at Polo, Shillong.
