Shillong, June 2: Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi, who is now on a tour of the US, discussed the cooperation of India’s opposition parties and predicted that the results of the general elections in 2024 will “surprise” everyone.

Rahul Gandhi voiced assurance about the power of a unified opposition at a discussion on Thursday at the National Press Club in Washington.

There is a rising undercurrent that is concealed, and I believe the Congress party will perform extremely well over the next two years. The outcome, in my opinion, will surprise people, said Gandhi.

The former Congress President commented on the opposition’s cohesiveness in India, saying, “The opposition in India is pretty much united. And I believe that it is becoming increasingly united. We are in communication with every opposition party. I believe that a lot of wonderful work is being done.

Now, a number of opposition parties—mostly like-minded ones—are banding together to challenge the BJP administration in the important 2024 Lok Sabha elections. On June 12, “like-minded political parties” will convene in Patna in an effort to forge a united front against the ruling BJP. The meeting’s chairman is anticipated to be Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar.
