Assam, Meghalaya groups hold talks to iron out differences
JOWAI, June 3: The Karbi Students’ Association and Jaintia Students’ Movement on Saturday held discussions over the prevailing situation along the interstate border areas. During the meeting, which was held at Karbi Hemtun, 6th Mile, Guwahati, the attendees appreciated the leadership of the JSM and the KSA for initiating discussions to ease the tensions along the borders. They lamented that the recent scuffle along the interstate border areas, and said that the same has affected the mutual trust amongst the permanent residents in the areas. It may be mentioned that the aim of the discussions, which was attended by KSA president Jemson Timung, JSM president Leningstar Rymbai among other members, was to build mutual trust and bring normalcy along the interstate border areas.

Health campaign launched in EJH
KHLIEHRIAT, June 3: Cabinet Minister Kyrmen Shylla on Friday launched the Integrated Health Campaign at Khliehriat in the presence of East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner, A Baranwal, Project Director, Meghalaya AIDS Control Society, Dr B. Decruse, among other district officials. Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Shylla, flagging concern over the number of HIV-infected persons in the district, called for a collaborative effort from various line departments and the public in tackling the problem by reaching out to all villages possible. Stating that information about HIV patients are kept confidential, he called for timely tests for HIV diagnosis.
