SHILLONG, June 8: The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has awarded Meghalaya Assembly, among nine legislative assemblies in India, for speedy implementation of the National eVidhan Application.
According to a statement here, the award was handed over by Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, to Computer Programmer and Nodal Officer (NEVA), Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Dapborlang Marwein, and Deputy Secretary of Parliamentary Affairs department and Nodal Officer, NeVA, Lawanda Lyndem, during the national workshop on NeVA, which was held on May 25 in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar have congratulated the team from NeVA and IT Cell, Meghalaya Assembly, for their endeavours in the speedy implementation of NeVA.
Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Commissioner and Secretary, Dr. Andrew Simons, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for recognising the efforts of the state government and the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
“The members of the Legislative Assembly have found NeVA helpful. I am sure members will adapt to the new technology and we will cut down the use of papers,” he said.
It may be mentioned that NeVA not only helps the Chair of the House to conduct the proceedings of the House smoothly, but also helps the members to carry out their duties in the House efficiently and to conduct Legislative Business of the House in a paperless manner.
“NeVA is a device neutral and member centric application created to equip them to handle diverse House Business smartly by putting entire information regarding member contact details, rules of procedure, list of business, notices, bulletins, bills, starred/unstarred questions and answers, papers laid, committee reports etc. in their hand held devices/tablets and equip all Legislatures/Departments to handle it efficiently,” a statement in this regard said.
