Shillong, June 14: After more than 24 hours of agitation at the national highway in Pipli, farmers in Kurukshetra have decided to conclude their protest and unblock the roads, as announced by Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Tuesday.

Tikait stated, “We are ending our protest. The blocked roads will be opened today. We were protesting to ensure that our crops are purchased at Minimum Support Price (MSP). We will continue to fight for MSP throughout the country. Our leaders will also be released soon, and the cases filed against them will be withdrawn.”

The farmers’ protest in Kurukshetra was brought to a close after the state government accepted the demand to increase sunflower seed procurement prices. Additionally, the cases registered against the farmer leaders will be dropped, bringing a resolution to the tense situation.
