SHILLONG, June 14: In the mission to eliminate Tuberculosis (TB) by 2025, the State TB Office under the umbrella of National Health Mission, Meghalaya, organised a two-day capacity building programme for frontline staff on ‘Counselling Soft Skills’ at The Habitat Shillong in collaboration with Saksham Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and supported by XIM University, Bhubaneswar and Saksham Pravaah. The programme concluded on Wednesday.
In her address after inaugurating the programme, State TB Officer Dr M Mawrie highlighted the state and country goals towards TB elimination. She underlined the need for all affected by TB and their family to be counselled at every opportunity to address information gaps.
The programme aimed to train the staff including Senior Treatment Supervisor and TB Health Visitor on social determinants of TB, introduction, principle and skills of counselling.
