Five foreign ultras eliminated in encounter in J&K’s Kupwara

Shillong, June 16: In an intense encounter that took place in the early hours of Friday, five foreign terrorists were killed during an encounter with Army and police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Officials have confirmed that the search operation in the area is currently underway.

ADGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, stated, “Five foreign terrorists were killed in the encounter. A search operation is underway.” The security forces initiated the encounter after receiving specific intelligence inputs in the Jumagund area near the Line of Control (LoC) in the northern part of Kashmir.

The Indian Army released a statement mentioning, “In a joint operation launched by the #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice, an infiltration bid was foiled today morning by alert troops along the LOC in Keran Sector, Kupwara. Five terrorists were eliminated, and war-like stores have been recovered. Operations are currently in progress.”

The successful elimination of these five foreign terrorists underscores the ongoing efforts of the security forces to combat terrorism in the region. The search operation continues in order to ensure the complete neutralization of any remaining threat in the area. The joint operation serves as a testament to the determination and vigilance of the security personnel in safeguarding the peace and security of Jammu and Kashmir.
