ANTF to also function as NCORD Secretariat

SHILLONG, June 19: The state government has reconstituted the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) so as to make it also function as the State NCORD Secretariat with the Inspector General of Police (CID) Meghalaya as the chairman, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Re-Orgn) Shillong as member secretary.

The members include Commissioner of Excise, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range) Shillong, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Shillong, Superintendent of Police (CID) Shillong, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills, Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills, and In-charge CELL-X (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances), CID Meghalaya, Shillong, and staff.

The ANTF would dedicate itself to three-fold objectives — take preventive measures against drug trafficking and undertake issues for action and criminal prosecution of all those including in drug peddling, supply and distribution, conduct mass awareness campaign and people’s participation in drive against drug menace and coordinate closely with other stakeholders/agencies/departments etc, at both the state and central levels to achieve the aforementioned objectives in a manner that contributes to the vision of a drug-free India, the state government said in a notification issued here.
