Health camp for high-risk group
SHILLONG, June 19: As part of the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the office of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills, in collaboration with Manbha Foundation CC TI, Shillong, organised a health camp programme for the high-risk group at Nongsohphoh Community Hall, Upper Mawprem, recently. The programme aimed to sensitise students on the ill-effects of drugs and how to combat and reduce the demand for drugs and other substances abuse which is a menace not only to the individual but the family and society at large. In another session, a health camp was organised for the high-risk group where Dr LB Ghosh, in-charge of Kripa Foundation, Outreach Drop in Centre, Shillong, and Dr Rica Lamar, Secretary, Manbha Foundation, conducted the health check-up and medicines were also provided free of cost. Earlier, the office of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills, also organised a capacity building programme on ‘Knowledge on Substance Abuse-treatment and rehabilitation’ at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Social Welfare in Shillong.
Book on parental guide released
JOWAI, June 19: A book titled ‘Ka rukom hikai ia ki khun haka juk thymmai’ (parental guide in today’s day and age) written by Remingson Bamon was released by HH Mohrmen, a well-known columnist from Jantia Hills, on Saturday. The book launch programme was attended by Phillip J Bamon in the presence of the family members of Remingson at his residence in Mihmyntdu. Reminsiong is reportedly the only individual YouTuber from Jaintia Hills who has won a YouTube creator’s award plate. He has more than one lakh subscribers.
