SHILLONG, June 20: Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Tuesday inaugurated the intensive care unit (ICU) and high-dependency units (HDU) at Dr H Gordon Roberts Hospital, Shillong, which was upgraded by Rotary Club of Shillong.
According to a statement here, the inaugural programme was attended by members of the Governing Body, medical personnel and staff of the hospital as well as Rotarians.
“Rotary Club of Shillong through Rotary Foundation and with the support of its international partner RI District 3282 of Bangladesh, received Global Grant for executing this project at a cost of approximately 50 lakhs,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Health Minister expressed hope that the project will hugely benefit society in providing better quality of healthcare.
She also appreciated the role of Rotary Club of Shillong in providing social services.
Rotary Club of Shillong president Deeya Rathore, on the other hand, said that through this project, the Rotary has provided 18 ICU beds, bedside lockers, cardiac monitors, ECG machines, food trays, IV stand, infusion pumps, examination light, crash cart and other necessary items.
Meanwhile, Past District Governor, District 3240, Rtn Dr Debasish Das, spoke on the ethos of Rotary and how Rotary Club of Shillong has wholeheartedly contributed to the society by implementing various service projects according to the areas of focus of Rotary.
