SHILLONG, June 24: KHADC members on Saturday paid their tributes to former MDC (late) Endro Iawphniaw during the ongoing summer session of the council.
Tabling a condolence resolution, KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pyniaid Sing Syiem, on behalf of the council, expressed grief at the demise of Iawphniaw and expressed deepest sympathy to his bereaved children and family. Syiem recalled that Iawphniaw was a member of the Council representing Mawkyrwat constituency from 1967 to 1972.
He passed away on April 29, 2021.
The CEM further mentioned that he was also elected as an MLA representing HSPDP in the year 1978-1983 from Nongstoin constituency and has also served as a Cabinet minister in the state. “As a Member of the Council and the State Assembly, he had contributed towards the welfare and interest of this Council, the district and the state as a whole. Hence, the vacuum caused by his death is greatly felt by us,” Syiem said.
Other members who participated include MDCs Bindo Mathew Lanong and Martle N Mukhim and Mawkyrwat MDC and Executive Member Carnes Sohshang.
