Shillong, June 26: A tragic incident unfolded in Bihar as a 15-year-old boy, Bajrangi Kumar, reportedly died after being brutally thrashed by his teachers when they caught him smoking in public.
According to Bajrangi’s relatives, he was in the Madhuban area of East Champaran district to retrieve his mother’s mobile phone from a repair shop. While returning home around 11:30 am on Saturday, he and his friends took a smoke break under the Hardiya bridge. Chairman Vijay Kumar Yadav of “Madhuban Rising Star Prep School,” where Bajrangi was a 10th-grade student, spotted him smoking and became furious. Accompanied by a teacher who was also a relative of the boy, the Chairman called Bajrangi’s father and dragged him to the school compound. There, he and other teachers allegedly subjected Bajrangi to a merciless beating, stripping him and using belts to assault him, as claimed by his mother and sister.
As Bajrangi fell unconscious, he was rushed to a private nursing home in Madhuban. However, due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to Muzaffarpur for further treatment. Sadly, he passed away during the course of the treatment. Relatives have alleged deep injuries on his neck and arms, along with bleeding in his private parts.
The school’s chairman has disputed the family’s claims, asserting that the boy consumed poison out of fear that his family would discover he had been caught smoking. According to his statement, Bajrangi was then rushed to Muzaffarpur but did not survive.
Bajrangi had recently joined the school’s hostel and had returned home for summer holidays.
The news of Bajrangi’s death caused chaos within his family. His inconsolable mother, Usmila Devi, recounted how the tragic news was suddenly delivered to her. Meanwhile, Bajrangi’s father, Hari Kishore Rai, had traveled to Punjab five days prior to work as a laborer.
