A child is engrossed in using a smartphone next to a store in the city. Smartphones have now arguably become an easy way to keep the otherwise restless and uneasy children busy and distracted, while the parent(s) may engage in household chores or other activities. While such a practice can be debated to be unhealthy, it is observed almost everywhere — from a crying baby being distracted with clips of cartoons on the internet inside a taxi to a mother leaving her child with a show playing on the smartphone. Notwithstanding the reservations about the practice, it can be concluded that it is simply effective. (ST)
