SHILLONG, July 1: Synod College, Shillong, on Saturday celebrated its 58th Foundation Day by holding a programme here.
According to a statement, the programme was attended by Rajya Sabha member, WR Kharlukhi, as the chief guest, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff, and students of the college.
In his address, Kharlukhi congratulated the college for taking up green initiatives, which include rainwater harvesting, water treatment plant and effluent waste management plant.
On the occasion, infrastructure was also inaugurated to facilitate movement of the physically challenged students in the college.
Scholarships were given to meritorious students of the UG and PG programmes, while the Synod College Achiever’s Award was conferred upon Dr. Iohborlang M Umlong for his contribution to Science and Research, and Batskhem Lyngkhoi for his contribution to Medical Physics and Research.
