Shillong, July 3: In a distressing incident, the police in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh discovered the body of a woman stored in a mortuary freezer at her residence. The woman’s brother had filed a complaint, alleging that her husband was responsible for her death. However, the husband insisted that she had passed away from jaundice. The authorities have initiated a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

The deceased woman, identified as Sumitri, was reportedly 40 years old. According to Police Inspector Vijay Singh of City Kotwali police station, the woman’s brother, Abhay Tiwari, lodged a complaint accusing his brother-in-law of secretly killing her. In contrast, the woman’s husband, Bharat Mishra, claimed that he had preserved her body in the home freezer until their son returned from Mumbai for the funeral.

As per Mishra’s account, his wife had been suffering from jaundice, which ultimately led to her demise on June 30.

The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter and have sent the woman’s body for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
