By Our Reporter SHILLONG, July 12: As a mark of protest against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha, the state unit of Congress party held a ‘maun satyagraha’ (silent protest) at their party office here on Wednesday. Initially, the protest was meant to be organised in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Secretariat, but the permission was denied. Speaking to media persons, Opposition leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh said that the protest was against the ruling of the High Court of Gujarat against party leader Rahul Gandhi. He said that the party will reach out to the grassroots to make people aware about the ‘failure’ of the NDA Government insofar as economy, price rise or unemployment is concerned. The opposition leader also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not speaking on the issue of Manipur violence.
