JJM deadline revised to March next

SHILLONG, July 19: The state government has fixed a new target to successfully implement the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) by March 2024.
A government source on Wednesday said the PHE Department has managed to provide tap water connection to 3.46 lakh rural households under the JJM out of the targetted total of 6.52 lakh.
According to the official, the physical progress of JJM in Meghalaya is 53.13%.
The official said 2,140 villages have been fully covered under JJM while 6,563 villages are yet to get tap water connection.
Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma had earlier disclosed that the Centre has allocated Rs 3,700 crore for 2023-24 for the implementation of JJM in Meghalaya.
He also stated that the number of households with tap connection has increased from 4,550 in 2019 to almost 3 lakh today.
